Faaji Agba es un retrato intimista de la historia, cultura y música de Lagos, Nigeria, desde los años 40 del siglo pasado hasta nuestros días a través de un grupo de maestros de la música con edades desde los 68 años hasta los 80. Vivían olvidados de todos hasta que Kunle Tejuoso, el dueño de Jazzhole Records, los sacó de la oscuridad y fundó el colectivo Faaji Agba. Su estilo musical abarca desde el highlife y el juju hasta el afrobeat. La historia empieza en 2009 y les sigue en su recorrido hasta la noche que tocan en Nueva York en 2011. Un año después dieron su último un concierto en Lagos.

Faaji Agba is an intimate portrait of the history, culture and music scene of Lagos, Nigeria from 1940 to present day through the lives of a group of of sixty-eight to eighty-five years old master musicians. They were forgotten by society, until Kunle Tejuoso, owner of Jazzhole Records brought them back from obscurity and founded the Faaji Agba Collective. There musical styles range from highlife, juju to afrobeat. The story starts in 2009 and follows them on their journey to perform in New York 2011. A year later their show in Lagos ended up being the last.

Faaji Agba est un portrait intime qui aborde l’histoire, la culture et la scène musicale de Lagos, au Nigéria, de 1940 à nos jours, à travers les vies d’un groupe de vieux musiciens âgés de soixante-huit à quatre-vingt cinq ans. Oubliés de la société, c’est Kunle Tejuoso, le propriétaire du Jazzhole Records, qui les a sortis de l’ombre en créant le groupe Faaji Agba. Leur style musical oscille entre le highlife, le juju et l’afrobeat. Le film commence en 2009, les suit dans leur périple musical à New York, et termine sur ce qui fut, un an plus tard à Lagos, leur dernier concert.
