SINOPSIS
30 de mayo de 1967. Odumegwu Ojukwu declara unilateralmente la independencia del Estado de Biafra. El gobierno federal de Nigeria, liderado por Yakubu Gowon, organiza una ofensiva militar para recuperar la región. Se abre el primer conflicto postcolonial a larga escala en África. Santo Tomé y Príncipe, entonces colonia portuguesa, situada al lado de Biafra, se convierte en el primer puente aéreo de ayuda humanitaria de iniciativa civil. A través de imágenes de archivo, paisajes y testimonios contemporáneos de niños refugiados y de trabajadores implicados, el documental restituye los restos materiales e inmateriales que quedan en Santo Tomé.
SYNOPSIS
On May 30, 1967, Odumegwu Ojukwu unitlaterally declared the independence of the state of Biafra from Nigeria. The Nigerian federal government, ruled by Yakubu Gowon, led a military offensive over Biafra to attempt to recover the region. Hostilities opened the way for large-scale war, the first post-colonial conflict in African. São Tomé, then a Portuguese colony, is close to Biafra by air and becomes the first airlift for civilian-initiated humanitarian aid. Through archival footage, landscapes and contemporary testimonies of child refugees and humanitarian workers involved, the film traces the physical and immaterial debris that remains in São Tomé.
SYNOPSIS
Le 30 mai 1967, Odumegwu Ojukwu déclare de manière unilatérale l’indépendance de l’État du Biafra. Le gouvernement fédéral du Nigéria, dirigé par Yakubu Gowon, mène une offensive militaire pour tenter de récupérer la région. Il s’agit du premier conflit post-colonial à grande échelle en Afrique. Sao-Tomé-Et-Principe, colonie portugaise située près du Biafra, devient alors le premier pont aérien de l’aide humanitaire initiée par les civils. Au travers d’images d’archives, de paysages et de témoignages contemporains d’anciens enfants réfugiés et de travailleurs impliqués, le documentaire restitue les vestiges matérielles et immatérielles qui subsistent à Sao-Tomé.
