SINOPSIS

ESPAÑOL

Oualata, la ciudad roja en el extremo del desierto mauritano. En este lugar, refugio efímero contra las arenas, tres mujeres practican el arte de la pintura tradicional decorando las paredes de las casas de la ciudad. En una sociedad aparentemente dominada por la tradición, la religión y los hombres, estas mujeres expresan con una sorprendente libertad su manera de percibir la relación entre hombres y mujeres.

Oualata, la ville rouge à l’extrême est du désert mauritanien. Dans cet îlot, éphémère rempart contre les sables, trois femmes pratiquent la peinture traditionnelle en décorant les murs des maisons de la ville. Dans une société apparemment dominée par la tradition, la religion et les hommes, ces femmes s’expriment avec une surprenante liberté sur leur manière de percevoir la relation entre les hommes et les femmes.

ENGLISH

Oualata, the red town on the far edge of the Sahara desert. In this haven, frail rampart against the sand, three women practice traditional painting, and decorate the walls of the town. In a society apparently dominated by tradition, religion and men, these women unreservedly express themselves and comment freely on the relationship between men and women.
