SINOPSIS
Cabo Oriental, Sudáfrica. Xolani, un obrero solitario, siempre pide días libres para asistir al rito anual de iniciación xhosa. En un remoto campamento situado en las montañas, cuyo acceso está prohibido a las mujeres, unos jóvenes pintados de ocre blanco aprenden los códigos masculinos de su cultura. En un ambiente machista y agresivo, Xolani se ocupa de Kwanda, un iniciado rebelde de Johanesburgo que no tarda en descubrir el gran secreto de su guía: está enamorado de otro hombre.
SYNOPSIS
Eastern Cape, South Africa. A lonely factory worker, Xolani, takes time off from his job to attend an annual Xhosa circumcision and initiation into manhood. In a remote mountain camp which is off limits to women, young men painted with white ochre recover from their circumcision as they learn the masculine codes of their culture. In this environment of machismo and aggression, Xolani cares for a rebellious initiate from Johannesburg, Kwanda, who quickly learns Xolani’s best kept secret: he is in love with another man.
SYNOPSIS
Cap oriental, Afrique du Sud. Comme tous les ans, Xolani, ouvrier solitaire, quitte son travail pour participer au rite d’initiation et de circoncision Xhosa. Dans un camp de montagne isolé, interdit aux femmes, les initiés, peints à l’ocre blanc, se remettent de leur circoncision en apprenant les codes masculins de leur culture. Dans cet environnement machiste et agressif, Xolani s’occupe d’un initié provocateur de Johannesburg, Kwanda, qui découvre rapidement le grand secret de Xolani : son amour pour un autre homme.
