SINOPSIS

In 1972, Djibril Diop Mambéty rodó Touki Bouki. Mory y Anta se aman. Los dos jóvenes amantes comparten el mismo sueño, dejar Dakar por París. Cuando llega el momento, Anta sube al barco, pero Mory se queda solo en el muelle, incapaz de abandonar su tierra. Han transcurrido 40 años y Mil soles investiga la herencia personal y universal que dejó Touki Bouki. ¿Qué ha ocurrido desde entonces? Magaye Nang, el protagonista de la película, no ha salido de Dakar. El viejo vaquero se pregunta ahora qué fue de su amor de juventud.
Historias de familia, de exilio y de cine pasan de la esfera íntima a la del mito.

In 1972 Djibril Diop Mambety shot Touki Bouki. Mory and Anta are in love. The young lovers share the same dream, to forget Dakar and go to Paris. When it is time to leave, Anta steps on the boat, but Mory remains behind, unable to abandon his country. Forty years later, A Thousand Suns investigates the personal and universal heritage left by Touki Bouki. What has happened since then? Magaye Niang, the film’s main character, has never left Dakar. And today, the old cowboy wonders what happened to his first love.
Family stories, stories about exile and cinema that step in and out of the intimate and the myth.
