SINOPSIS

Después de robar un machete en un mercado de Kigali, Munyurangabo y su amigo Sangwa dejan la ciudad para emprender el viaje de regreso hacia su poblado. Munyurangabo busca justicia por la muerte de sus padres, asesinados durante el genocidio, y Sangwa desea volver a la casa que abandonó años atrás. Aunque los dos muchachos solo pensaban quedarse unas horas, acaban pasando allí varios días. Pero, al ser de dos tribus distintas, su amistad se pone a prueba: los padres de Sangwa desconfían de Munyurangabo, y advierten a su hijo de que hutus y tutsis son, supuestamente, enemigos.

Après le vol d’une machette sur le marché de Kigali, Munyurangabo et son ami Sangwa quittent la ville pour retourner à leur village. Munyurangabo réclame justice pour la mort de ses parents, tués au cours du génocide. Quant à Sangwa, il souhaite se rendre à la maison qu’il a abandonnée il y a des années. Alors qu’ils ne pensaient rester que quelques heures, les garçons restent plusieurs jours. Mais parce qu’issus de deux tribus différentes, leur amitié est mise à rude épreuve. Les parents de Sangwa, méfiants, réprouvent Munyurangabo et lancent comme avertissement que les Hutus et les Tutsis sont censés être ennemis.
ENGLISH
After stealing a machete from a market in Kigali, Munyurangabo and his friend Sangwa leave the city to return to their village. Munyurangabo seeks justice for his parents, who were killed in the genocide, while Sangwa wants to return to the home he left years ago. Although the two boys had planned to stay only a few hours, they end up spending several days. But, because they are from two different tribes, their friendship is sorely tried. Sangwa’s parents distrust Munyurangabo, and warn their son that Hutus and Tutsis are supposed to be enemies.
