Socotra es una isla remota en el océano Índico cono- cida en la Antigüedad por ser la morada de los rocs y los fénix, unos pájaros de la mitología árabe. La película sigue el recorrido por el interior de la isla de un grupo de camelleros que se dirigen a las montañas antes de la estación de las lluvias. Por la noche, alrededor del fuego, se cuentan historias de genios y serpientes monstruosas. En un remoto poblado, los camelleros reciben la visita de Ahmed Afrar hijo póstumo del último sultán de Socotra, quien les habla del trágico destino de su padre. Se trata de la primera película hablada enteramente en socotri, una lengua sudarábiga emparentada con el antiguo idioma del Reino de Saba.

Socotra is a remote island in the Indian Ocean known in ancient times for being the home of roc and phoenix, birds from Arabian mythology. The film follows a group of camel drivers as they trek through the island, headed towards the mountains before rainy season starts. At night, seated around the fire, they tell stories of djinns and monstrous snakes. In a remote village, the camel drivers are visited by Ahmed Afrar, the posthumous son of the last sultan of Socotra, who tells them of his father’s tragic fate. This is the first film spoken entirely in Soqotri, a South Arabian language related to the ancient language of the Kingdom of Sheba.
