SINOPSIS

La historia transcurre en Burkina Faso. La pobreza aumenta con cada año que pasa en Gurga, un pueblo en los confines del Sahel. Los habitantes deben elegir entre esperar la ayuda internacional o marcharse hacia una región más rica de Burkina Faso. Salam, un campesino, y su familia optan por la segunda posibilidad a pesar del sacrificio que implica. Empiezan una nueva vida y redescubren lo que el hambre les había hecho olvidar: el amor, la alegría, el odio, la violencia.

L’histoire se passe au Burkina Faso. À Gourga, un village situé aux confins du Sahel, la pauvreté s’intensifie d’année en année. Les habitants doivent faire un choix : soit attendre l’aide internationale, soit se décider à partir vers une région plus riche du Burkina. Salam, un paysan de Gourga, et sa famille choisissent la deuxième solution avec tous les sacrifices que cela implique. Mais une nouvelle vie peut ainsi démarrer. Ils découvrent ce que la faim et la soif leur avaient fait oublier : l’amour, la joie, la haine, la violence.

The story takes place in Burkina Faso. Poverty grows with each year that passes at Gourga, a village on the borders of the Sahel. The inhabitants must choose: either wait for international assistance to arrive or travel to a richer area of the country. Salam, a peasant, and his family opt for the second solution despite the sacrifices that this entails. They begin a new life and they rediscover what hunger had made them forget: love, joy, hate and violence.
