SINOPSIS

La ley de clasificación de 1948 ha sido una de las bases del apartheid. La vida de Robert, 91 años de edad, se vino abajo por ella. De madre alemana y padre negro, fue “clasificado” como mestizo. Su mujer y dos se sus hijos, como “blancos”. Después de la muerte de su mujer, Robert rehizo su vida con Doris, negra, y ambos narran con humor su historia a pesar de las humillaciones y los abusos que han debido soportar. Los dos hijos de Robert, clasificados como blancos, se comportaron con su padre y con su madrastra de acuerdo con los códigos de la sociedad racista del apartheid.

The 1948 Classification Law was one of the pillars of Apartheid. Robert’s life, now 91 years old, fell apart because of this. The son of a German mother and a black father, he was “classified” as half-caste, but his wife and two of his children fell in the white category. After his wife passed away, Robert rebuilt his life with Doris, a black woman, and they both recall their life together with much humour in spite of the abuse and humiliation they had to put up with. For example, Robert’s two “white” children treated their father and step-mother according to the codes of a racist society rules by Apartheid.
