SINOPSIS

¿Cómo es posible que en lo más recóndito de las estepas mongolas los niños sepan quién es Ronaldo? Tres historias paralelas cuentan las peripecias de unos hombres que tienen dos cosas en común: vivir en regiones remotas del planeta y estar empeñados en ver la final del Mundial de fútbol de Japón-Corea 2002 entre Alemania y Brasil. Una familia de nómadas mongoles, una caravana de camelleros tuareg en el desierto del Sahara y un grupo de indios amazónicos serán nuestros protagonistas. Todos viven a muchos kilómetros de distancia del punto más cercano en el que es posible ver la televisión o son múltiples las dificultades que tienen para hacerlo. Sin embargo, estos hombres disponen del ingenio y la voluntad suficiente como para lograr su objetivo.

Comment est-il possible que dans l’un des coins les plus reculés de la steppe mongolienne, des enfants sachent qui est Ronaldo? Le film raconte l’aventure de trois héros qui ne se sont jamais vus mais qui ont deux choses en commun : ils vivent dans un endroit perdu de notre planète et ils sont fermement décidés à regarder à la télévision le match de finale de la coupe du monde 2002, au Japon, qui oppose l’Allemagne au Brésil. Les protagonistes de cette comédie « mondialisée » sont : une famille de Mongols nomades, les Touaregs d’une caravane de chameaux, au Sahara, et une tribu d’indiens de l’Amazonie. Ils vivent tous à environ 500 kilomètres de l’endroit le plus proche équipé d’un téléviseur et ils ne peuvent y arriver qu’au prix d’énormes difficultés. Ces gens sont pourtant pourvus de suffisamment d’imagination et de volonté pour parvenir à leur but.

How is it possible that children living in the remotest part of the Mongolian steppes know who Ronaldo is? This documentary film tells the adventurous story of three heroes, none of whom have ever met, but who nevertheless have two things in common: firstly, they all live in the farthest-flung corners of the planet and, secondly, they are all three determined to see on TV the final in Japan of the 2002 World Cup between Germany and Brazil. The protagonists in this ‘global’ comedy are: a family of Mongolian nomads, a camel caravan of Tuaregs in the Sahara, and a group of Indians in the Amazon. They all live about 500 kilometres away from the next town – and the next television – making their task a particularly daunting one. Nevertheless, these inventive people possess the resourcefulness and the willpower to achieve their goal.
