SINOPSIS

Año 1969. Kinshasa, Congo. El 21 de julio, el Apolo 11 debe aterrizar en la Luna. La pareja formada por Tanga y Nika esperan a sor Mwezi para pasar una velada “lunar” en casa de Muntu-wa-Bantu, el hermano de Nika. Pero la religiosa no llega. La Luna está llena, Muntu-wa-Bantu tiene el transistor pegado al oído y la mirada fija en la Luna. Quiere ver por sí mismo “los primeros pasos del hombre en la Luna”. Por mucho que mire, no ve nada de lo que dicen en la radio. ¿Tan lejos está la Luna? Muntu-wa-Bantu decide que él también pisará la Luna.

1969. Kinshasa, Congo. Le 21 juillet, Apollo 11 doit atterrir sur la Lune. Tanga et Nika, mari et femme, attendent Sœur Mwezi, pour passer la soirée « lunaire » chez Muntu-wa-Bantu, le frère de Nika. Mais la religieuse ne viendra pas. C’est une nuit de pleine lune. Muntu-wa-Bantu a le poste de radio collé à l’oreille et les yeux fixant la lune. Il veut voir de ses propres yeux « le premier pas de l’homme sur la lune », mais il n’y voit aucun signe de ce que la radio affirme. La lune est-elle si loin ? Alors, cette nuit-là, Muntu-wa-Bantu décide lui aussi de marcher sur la lune.

ENGLISH

The year 1969. Kinshasa, Congo. On July 21, the Apollo 11 is going to land on the Moon. Tanga and Nika, husband and wife, wait for Sister Mwezi to spend a “Moon” evening with Nika’s brother Muntu-wa-Bantu. However, the nun does not appear. The Moon is full. Muntu-wa-Bantu holds the transistor radio up to his ear as he stares at the Moon. He wants to see the first steps of mankind on the Moon for himself. But no matter how long he stares, he cannot see what they are saying on the radio. Can the Moon be that far away? That night, Muntu-wa-Bantu decides that he too will walk on the Moon.
